Nuki Launches Smart Module & Keypad 2 NFC White
Nuki Launches Invisible Smart Access Solution and Expands Keypad Portfolio
Graz (Austria), November 5, 2026

For the first time, keyless access without any visible technology: With the launch of the Smart Module, initially announced in March, Nuki is not only targeting factory-fitted new builds but also offering an invisible solution for existing motorized locks via professional installers. At the same time, the Austrian smart lock pioneer is expanding its accessory portfolio, debuting the Keypad 2 NFC in a limited White Edition featuring Theft Detection.
What was presented as a prototype in March is now entering series production right on schedule: With the Smart Module, Nuki is integrating the technology of its fifth smart lock generation directly into modern doors without any visible hardware. "This allows us to offer customers complete freedom of choice for the very first time. Those who want to make their existing doors smart themselves within just a few minutes use the Smart Lock. And those who prefer an invisible, permanently installed solution – whether factory-fitted in new builds or when modernizing existing motorized locks – get exactly that freedom with the Smart Module," explains Martin Pansy, Co-Founder and CEO of Nuki.
Fully integrated rather than retrofitted
The proven Nuki Smart Lock is visibly mounted on the inside of the door as a retrofit solution and is already relied upon by more than a million people worldwide. With the Smart Module, the company is now taking the step toward complete architectural integration. It directly controls electromechanical door locks, such as motorized locks or automatic door openers, and is completely invisible, leaving the design of the front door 100% unaffected. A major everyday benefit: thanks to a permanent power supply, changing or recharging batteries is a thing of the past.
Users continue to benefit from the familiar convenience Nuki is known for: from touchless opening via Auto Unlock and remote access on the go, to assigning digital access rights via smartphone. The modular concept also remains intact – the system can be seamlessly expanded with accessories like a Keypad to open doors using Tap to Unlock via NFC, fingerprint, or entry codes. Thanks to the Matter standard, the smart door effortlessly integrates into Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.
Smart access is becoming the standard: Growing demand in new builds
Nuki's decision to take this strategic step is driven by a massive shift in customer needs: Currently, only four percent¹ of European households use a digital key – but interest in keyless doors is growing rapidly, and no longer just for existing locks. Especially in new builds and renovations, homeowners desire an invisibly integrated solution from a single source. Industry analyses based on the Nuki Market Model predict that the new build segment will quadruple to more than one million smart doors per year by 2036².
To bring the Smart Module directly into manufacturers' production lines, Nuki is partnering with established industry leaders. A central pillar of this strategy is the close cooperation with the globally operating polymer specialist REHAU Window Solutions. This partnership ensures that fabricators can integrate the technology straight from the factory without having to adapt their existing manufacturing processes. "We are constantly reinventing windows and doors for the life of today and tomorrow. Smart solutions in particular enhance the quality of living through easy operation and technical innovations for maximum convenience," says Carsten Heuer, CEO of REHAU Window Solutions.
Full flexibility: Simple retrofitting via Nuki Pro Partners
The Nuki Smart Module is by no means limited to factory-fitted new builds; it also opens up new possibilities for existing properties. Alongside full factory integration, the system can be retrofitted out of sight in a standard flush-mounted box. This is where authorized Nuki Pro Partners – such as electricians or system integrators – come into play: Thanks to the straightforward wiring concept, professionals can easily digitize existing doors with electromechanical locks and expand them with modular Nuki accessories.
Keypad 2 NFC now also available in white
Alongside its market push in the new build sector, Nuki is also expanding its existing portfolio. For the Keypad 2 NFC, launched in spring – which enables contactless access via NFC in addition to entry codes and fingerprints – the company is now following up with a White Edition that blends harmoniously into light-colored facades and modern entrance areas. "The feedback from our community is our most important benchmark. The Keypad 2 NFC is already being used in tens of thousands of households, and the call for a light-colored version was incredibly loud from day one," emphasizes Martin Pansy. "We are responding to this as quickly as possible – and pairing the new design directly with a crucial upgrade."
Together with the White Edition, Nuki is rolling out Theft Detection for all Keypad 2 NFC models. If a sensor integrated into the battery compartment detects movement or removal, the system reacts immediately. Users will receive a notification – provided this feature is activated – and the incident is also recorded in the activity log. Unauthorized persons cannot open the door via the keypad, reset the device, or pair it with another Nuki device. If the keypad was moved legitimately, it can be easily unlocked: After a single authentication via fingerprint or entry code, all opening options are fully available again. The new battery compartment cover featuring the sensor is also available separately in the Nuki Shop for existing black NFC Keypads.
Both new products available immediately
The Nuki Smart Module is now available across Europe as an integrated complete solution via leading door manufacturers – but also as a standalone product through authorized Nuki Pro Partners and in the Nuki Online Shop for 359 euros. The Nuki Keypad 2 NFC White is also available to order immediately in limited quantities exclusively for Nuki Club members for 179 euros, and will subsequently be available as standard in the Nuki Online Shop. The battery compartment cover with Theft Detection costs 4,90 euros. All prices are the manufacturer's recommended retail price (RRP).
