All Nuki Smart Locks are installed on the inside of your door without needing any technical know-how, drilling, or special tools. How secure is the Smart Lock?

Nuki uses state-of-the-art encryption mechanisms commonly used in online-banking. All communication with the Smart Lock is protected with end-to-end encryption. We also have our Smart Lock regularly inspected and certified by independent security institutes. The Nuki Smart Lock was once again certified by AV-TEST as a secure smart home product in 2025.

What are the differences between the Smart Lock Ultra Nordics and the Smart Lock Ultra?

The Smart Lock Ultra Nordics provides all the features and benefits of the Smart Lock Ultra. However, because it is designed for Scandinavian single-deadbolt cylinders, it does not include a Nuki Universal Cylinder. It mounts directly onto your existing cylinder.

Does this Smart Lock Ultra Nordics include a Universal Cylinder?

No. The Smart Lock Ultra Nordics is a retrofit solution designed for standard Scandinavian single-deadbolt cylinders. It mounts directly onto your existing cylinder and therefore does not include the Nuki Universal Cylinder. Please note that it is generally not compatible with the Nuki Universal Cylinder.

What happens if my Smart Lock runs out of battery?

You’ll always receive a warning when your lock’s battery level drops below 20%, giving you more than enough time to quickly recharge your device.Users who own a Smart Lock Ultra, or any other Smart Lock combined with a Nuki Universal Cylinder, can still use a physical key to open their door - even with the Smart mounted on the door!For all other users, if your current door cylinder has a so-called "emergency function", you can also simply use your keys to unlock your door.

Can the Nuki Smart Lock Ultra Nordics be used for short-term rentals?

Yes. Are there any import taxes or customs fees for Norway?
