Owners of an Apple Watch LTE can now control their Nuki Smart Lock without an iPhone. This allows you to open your door remotely, not just within Bluetooth range.
There is also news regarding our Nuki app: with the new app release we are introducing a new numbering system for the app versions.
Wearables are becoming increasingly popular and smartwatches in particular are ideal everyday companions. A smartwatch is replacing more and more items that we would otherwise have to carry around. If you lock your Nuki Smart Lock via Smartwatch, not only your key but also your smartphone can stay at home.
The Nuki app can be used on most smartwatches: WearOS, Huawei Watch 3, Tizen, Garmin and of course on the Apple Watch.
With the Apple Watch LTE you can directly control your Nuki Smart Lock. This means you can leave your iPhone at home. You used to be able to unlock your door before without having your iPhone with you. But you had to be within Bluetooth range of your iPhone. This was because the Apple Watch could only control the Smart Lock via the iPhone. The communication between Apple Watch LTE and your Nuki devices is direct. This allows for completely new freedom in everyday life.
Nuki is now compatible with WatchOS 7. Apple Watch Series 1&2 (WatchOS 6 and below), on the other hand, are no longer supported.
More information (requirements, setup, troubleshooting) about the Nuki app on your Apple Watch LTE can be found in our help section.
In the menu, under “Help” at the bottom, you will find the app version you are currently using. Until now, the current app version has been identified by a sequential number (e.g. 3.1.0 (654)). From March 2022, the app version number will also include the release date: e.g. Year.Month.Release → 2022.3.1. The last number indicates which release of the month it is. In this way we achieve a simpler, clearer and more informative naming of our app versions.
