The Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 comes with many new features and offers Apple HomeKit integration

It’s almost exactly 2 years since the Nuki Smart Lock celebrated its official market launch. That may not seem like a long time, but a lot has happened. Smart home systems have evolved from small stand-alone solutions into truly networked systems from various manufacturers. Alexa, Google Home and Siri have moved into our living rooms, the Nuki Fob is fully-fledged and the Apple HomeKit has been born.

Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 - Take your smart home to a new level with our new electronic door lock and HomeKit, Siri, Alexa or Google Home

Some features were already been implemented in the past, but others took a little more time. Apple HomeKit integration has been one of the greatest wishes of our customers since the Smart Lock first appeared on the market. We have devoted a lot of attention to this feature over the past few months and are now proud to announce: The improved version of the Nuki Smart Lock is HomeKit compatible.

Nuki Smart Lock supports HomeKit
Thanks to Apple HomeKit integration, the Nuki can now also be controlled via Siri, managed through the Apple Home App, and very easily incorporated into your smart home system.

Door sensor
The new door sensor detects whether your door is open or closed and warns if you try to lock the door when it’s open.

Knob cylinders
We have always striven to make the Smart Lock compatible with as many devices and doors as possible. That’s the reason why the Smart Lock 2.0 has a new keyway that also allows you to use our electronic door lock with standard knob cylinders.

Bluetooth 5
Just like the new Nuki Fob and Nuki Keypad, the Smart Lock 2.0 has been upgraded to Bluetooth 5, which improves not only the range, but also connection stability.

As a result of the new motherboard, the Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 is now also compatible with the popular Smart Home standard “ZigBee”.

Performance boost
Due to the new, more powerful processor, the speed of the Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 has increased by 300%.

And best of all, you won’t have to wait until 2020 or even 2019: The new version of the Smart Lock will be available in the Nuki Shop in November and will cost EUR 229 – the same as the first generation Smart Lock.

But we have also already planned specific solutions for 2019: the Nuki Opener.
This retrofittable door opener for your intercom system will appear in the first half of 2019. That way, your house door will also become smart and make completely keyless access from the street all the way into your home possible.

Update July 31, 2019:
Last year, we announced our plans for 2019, which included the Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 as well as the planned integration of the Zigbee communication standard. After conducting an extensive analysis, we came to the conclusion that our approach to integrating Zigbee would not meet our high quality standards with regard to usability. For this reason, the Nuki Smart Lock 2.0 will not support Zigbee in 2019. Of course, we will keep you up to date on all developments concerning Zigbee and will continue our intensive work to ensure that our products are compatible with as many Smart Home devices and standards as possible.
