Safety first: Additional protection of the Nuki app through authentication

Nuki News 07.09.2020 | Sebastian Scholz

A maximum of security is our key principle in the development of the Nuki Smart Lock. We have dedicated ourselves to this value in the development of our product range and have consistently pursued this path over the past years. This is also shown through regular testing and certification by independent research institutes for security, such as AV-TEST Germany. Development also means for us to always keep the wishes of our customers in mind, which is why we would like to introduce a new feature for our Nuki Apple users.

From now on it is possible to additionally protect the Nuki iOS App through authentication via iPhone. This means that you can now additionally secure the opening of the Nuki iOS app with biometric authentication, such as Touch ID (fingerprint) and Face ID, or with a code. This way you can make sure that the Nuki app can only be opened by authorised persons. If you want to use this feature, you can easily activate it in the menu of your Nuki app under ‘Privacy’.

Of course, you can still perform all activities outside of the Nuki iOS app, such as Auto Unlock or door opening via Apple Watch. In the meantime, we are already working on compatibility with iOS 14.

Note: This feature is currently only available for iOS users. However, we are planning to implement this feature for the Nuki Android app in the near future. Stay tuned!

Nerd? Designer? Smart Home enthusiast? Probably a little bit of everything. I am fascinated by new technology, different ways of thinking, and cat videos. Trekkie? Warsie? I'd say about 30:70 – I don't like seeing things in black and white, although I'd make an exception for interior design.
