The Nuki encryption concept explained simply.

Your security comes first

We built Nuki with bank-level encryption to keep your home safe. Every connection between your devices is protected to prevent unauthorized access — so only the people you trust can get in.

End-to-end encryption

Every command you send from the Nuki app is encrypted before it even leaves your device. Only your Smart Lock can read it — using a unique digital key created during setup.

Plus, for each command, an additional individual random number (challenge) is used, keeping your home secure at every step.

Secure communication between all devices

Nuki App

A command previously encrypted by the app is transmitted via Bluetooth to the Smart Lock and then decrypted.

Nuki Accessories

Even if you use accessories like the Keypad, your commands are encrypted and then sent to your Smart Lock.

Remote Access

When you use remote access with your Nuki Smart Lock, only your end devices know the key. Data cannot be read or stored on Nuki servers — it is only transmitted securely.
