Access to holiday homes now easier than ever
Nuki expands Smart Hosting Service with option for opening via weblink
Graz (Austria), June 18th, 2024
- A smart door lock makes life much more convenient for both the owners and guests of holiday properties.
- And it will soon be even more convenient. Starting this summer, the Smart Hosting Service of Nuki will include the new “Open via weblink” option.
- Guests receive a link via email or messenger, which can then be used to open the door during their stay.
For years, hosts and guests who use on-line portals such as Airbnb™ have been enjoying the benefits of Nuki Smart Locks. Physical keys do not have to be handed over, hidden, or deposited in a safe and therefore cannot be lost. Hosts and travelers can enjoy the peace of mind that check-in is possible at any time – even in the middle of the night after a late arrival. Guests previously received either the entry code for a Nuki Keypad or an invitation link that activates the lock in the Nuki App during the stay. However, the latter meant that every person had to download and install the app. These options are now combined in the “Open via weblink” option. Guests will now receive their Nuki link by email or messenger and can open the door with a simple swipe of their finger.
Simple and secure
Like all other opening options, a Nuki weblink is valid only between check-in and check-out. Technically speaking, the opening of the door via weblink is not carried out in the same way as via Bluetooth but rather as a remote control command via the Internet. Location synchronization between the smart phone and Nuki ensures that the person is in the immediate vicinity of the lock. This prevents remote openings. Of course, hosts have full control at all times and can change or deactivate links as required. For example, if guests leave earlier than planned. The main guest receives the link as a virtual key in the email or message from the host and can easily share the same link with their fellow travelers.
Opens building doors
Even the smartest Smart Lock is of little use if the building is locked by a separate front door. Nuki also has a solution to this problem with the Opener. The Nuki Opener is also located in the apartment and is connected to the intercom system. This allows the buzzer for the front door to be triggered. Of course, this also works simply via a weblink.
