More convenience, new functions

Update of the Nuki app for smartwatches with Android Wear OS

Graz (Austria), March 8th, 2023

  • Improved direct communication via Bluetooth now enables the control of all Nuki devices within Bluetooth range.
  • Wear OS smartwatches with their own internet access can now control Nuki devices remotely completely without a smartphone.
  • Even more direct and convenient: Support for Wear OS tiles ensures access without the hassle and offers full control.

Nuki Smart Locks stand out for their versatile opening possibilities. With the new version of the Nuki app for Android smartwatches with Wear OS, the lock can now be controlled extensively directly from the comfort of your wrist. This means you can leave your phone at home – when you’re out jogging, for example.

No key, no mobile phone – only your watch

With the completely revised version of the Nuki app for smartwatches with Wear OS, Bluetooth communication has been significantly improved. It is now possible to control all Nuki devices within range directly from the watch – there is no need to use the smartphone as a “bridge”. This way, you can simply leave your smartphone at home for a while. Once you return home from an enjoyable walk or a brisk jog, the watch on your wrist opens the door.

Improved control from a distance

Wear OS watches with their own internet access can now control Nuki remotely and without a smartphone. The improved Bluetooth communication between the watch and smartphone enables remote control directly on the watch. A security query for remote access prevents users from accidentally opening their front door remotely.

Direct access and full control via Wear OS tile

The new Wear OS tile makes controlling a Nuki Smart Lock even more direct and convenient. It offers direct access and full control, from the comfort of your wrist. “To us, ‘smart’ has always meant offering people a wide range of opening options. That’s why we’re very excited to provide new features and more convenience to all Wear OS smartwatch users with this new update”, comments Martin Pansy, Co-Founder and CEO of Nuki, on the latest update.
