Can I use the Opener if I am renting an apartment?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Nuki Opener and its use do not interfere with the legitimate interests of the owner or residential community. Approval of the product or its use by the owner, landlord or a representative (property management) is therefore not required. All parties must adapt their usage behavior to the interests of the residential community or comply with its restrictive usage regulations (house rules) and are liable for misconduct. This analysis is based on the legal situation in Austria and Germany but we can assume that the situation is quite similar in other countries.

Can I use the Opener for renting out my vacation home?

Yes, absolutely. The Nuki Smart Lock in combination with the Nuki Opener allows you to offer keyless access to your apartment building. Why do I also need a Nuki Bridge to use the Nuki Opener?

The Opener communicates through Bluetooth (BLE). However, since a Bluetooth connection between your apartment and the front door of your building is usually not stable enough, or because there might not even be a connection at all, we recommend exclusively using the Opener together with the Bridge, which is connected to Wi-Fi. You can additionally also use the Bridge to remotely open the front door of your building.

Is is possible to use the Nuki Smart Lock Pro instead of the Nuki Bridge for the Nuki Opener?

No. In order to use the Nuki Opener, a separate Nuki Bridge will be required.

Is the Nuki Opener compatible with the Keypad or the Fob?

Accepted Answer

All Nuki products are designed to be compatible with each other. The Nuki Opener is therefore also compatible with the Keypad, Keypad 2 and the Fob. The devices can be paired with each other in the Nuki App. However, due to the physical limitations of Bluetooth and the often greater distance between the front door and the intercom system, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that they will work properly.

How does the installation work?

Like all Nuki products, the Opener is designed for self-installation. You can find detailed instructions on how to install and set up the Opener for the first time in the Nuki app. The required installation material is included in the packaging.The output voltage of the intercom system is in the low range, so installing the system is not dangerous.

How is the Nuki Opener supplied with power?

The Opener is powered by four AAA batteries, so that no power is drawn from the house system and a stable power supply is always guaranteed. There is no power theft and you can install the Nuki Opener in your home without your landlord's permission.As an alternative to batteries, you can also supply your Opener with a permanent power supply via a micro USB cable.

Can I also control my electric garage door with the Nuki Opener?

In principle, the Opener can control almost any electronically controlled door. During the setup process via the Nuki App, you have the option of selecting other doors (e.g. garage, garden gate, switch, etc.) in addition to the conventional intercom system.
