Nuki’s most popular function: Auto Unlock now even better
Nuki NewsThe Auto Unlock function has always been, by far, the most popular feature among Nuki Smart Lock users. With the latest update of the iOS app (version 2023.2.1), you can now adjust the reaction of your Smart lock so that the door opens slightly or significantly delayed – at the moment you want it to open. For Android users, this function already existed.
How does Auto Unlock work?
Nuki uses both geoposition and Bluetooth so that your front door opens as if by magic when you approach. Nuki then draws a virtual circle with a radius of 100 meters, the so-called geofence, around the location of the Smart Lock – i. e. your home. If this invisible limit is crossed from the outside, the Nuki app actively starts to search for the Bluetooth signal from the Smart Lock. And since Bluetooth has a comparatively small practical range of a few meters, your smartphone and your Smart Lock have to come quite close. Establishing a stable connection between the mobile phone and the lock triggers the door opening. Ideally, this happens exactly when you are right in front of the door.
Why is your Nuki opening too fast?
It can happen that the Bluetooth connection is established very quickly – and Nuki opens your front door too early. This is the case, for example, when you take the stairs and can already hear the Smart Lock buzzing, although you still have one floor to climb. The situation is very similar with parking spaces near the front door, where the door opens even though you are still sitting in the vehicle.
How do you get the Auto Unlock improvement?
The problems mentioned are now a thing of the past. In the Auto Unlock settings you will find the new item “Auto Unlock Speed” . In addition to the standard setting, you can choose a slight or significant delay there:
– Normal: The door will be opened as soon as the Smart Lock is found via Bluetooth.
– Slightly delayed: After your Smart Lock is found via Bluetooth AND the Bluetooth signal strength reaches a certain value, your door will be opened.
– Significantly delayed: The door is only opened when the Bluetooth signal is strong. Auto Unlock is thus performed with a significant delay.<
The Nuki App can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Auto Unlock is a function of the Nuki Smart Lock. You can mount the Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 and Nuki Smart Lock 3.0 Pro to almost any house or apartment door without tools or the support of a craftsman.
