Nuki uses state-of-the-art encryption mechanisms commonly used in online-banking. All communication with the Smart Lock is protected with end-to-end encryption. We also have our Smart Lock regularly inspected and certified by independent security institutes. The Nuki Smart Lock was once again certified by AV-TEST as a secure smart home product in 2025.

How do I install the Smart Lock?

All Nuki Smart Locks are installed on the inside of your door without needing any technical know-how, drilling, or special tools. What happens if my Smart Lock runs out of battery?

You’ll always receive a warning when your lock’s battery level drops below 20%, giving you more than enough time to quickly recharge your device.Users who own a Smart Lock Ultra, or any other Smart Lock combined with a Nuki Universal Cylinder, can still use a physical key to open their door - even with the Smart mounted on the door!For all other users, if your current door cylinder has a so-called "emergency function", you can also simply use your keys to unlock your door.

What if I don't have a smartphone?

Even if you don't have your phone with you, you can still open your door in many ways:
Asking someone with an access permission to open it for your remotely

Using a smartwach

Using one of our accessories to open your door with a code, fingerprint, or a Fob

Using the Nuki Web service to open your door without a phone

We recommend that you only use Nuki with a cylinder with emergency function. This means you can always unlock your door with your mechanical key, even if there is a key inserted on the inside of your cylinder, which is the case when using the Nuki Smart Lock.

What are the differences between Smart Lock Go, Pro and Ultra?

In general all our Smart Locks offer the same basic features and functions and are compatible with the new communication standard Matter. Nevertheless there are some key differences:Access from the distance:
All Nuki Smart Locks are equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi module and can also be connected to the internet via the Matter over Thread integration. For Smart Lock Pro and Ultra, those services are already enabled. For the Smart Lock Go Remote Access can be enabled with a one time purchase of 49€.Compatibility:
The Smart Lock Go is compatible with cylinders of the types Europrofile and Swiss round as well as with UK Oval cylinders and selected knob cylinders.The Smart Lock Pro is compatible with Europrofile cylinders and selected Swiss Round cylinders.The Smart Lock Ultra is the perfect choice if you have to change your cylinder because it doesn't meet the requirements to be used with Nuki. The Smart Lock Ultra is delivered with a Nuki Universal Cylinder included.

The Smart Lock Pro has a built-in lithium-ion battery that can be fully charged within two hours. Thanks to the magnetic charging port it can be easily charged directly on your door. Of course it can also be charged while being dismantled from the door.

How can I control my Smart Lock Pro remotely?

Your Smart Lock Pro is equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi module and can be connected directly to your Wi-Fi at home. No additional Bridge or hub needed. It is also capable to be connected to your Wi-Fi via your Matter over Thread integration, if you have a suitable hub. No Bridge or additional Hub is required. Remote Access is already included and no additional payments are required to use it.
