IoT Breakthrough Award 2020: Nuki Named Emerging Consumer Market Company of the Year

Nuki News 03.01.2020 | Judith Wilfing

Although the new year is only a few days old, we already have good news to announce. At the 4th IoT Breakthrough Awards, Nuki Home Solutions was named “IoT Emerging Company of the Year”, in the category consumer market.

As part of Tech Breakthrough, the IoT Breakthrough Awards program is devoted to honouring excellence in Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies, services, companies and products. The program provides a forum for public recognition around the achievements of IoT companies and products in categories including Industrial and Consumer IoT, Smart City, Connected Home and Home Automation, Connected Car, and more. With over 3,700 nominations coming in this year from all over the world, the competition is extremely fierce.

The organization performs one of the deepest evaluations of the IoT industry each year to highlight the “breakthrough” solutions and companies. As a winner Nuki is in great company – some of the other winners from this year include Cisco, Dell, GE Appliances, Samsung, Schneider-Electric, Amazon, Ring, Sonos, Verizon and an impressive list of top companies and startups in the industry. Therefore, we are especially proud that Nuki has brought one of the awards to Graz (Austria).

“With an innovative product portfolio and remarkable market growth, Nuki has established itself as one of Europe’s market leaders in the field of smart door locks – which is definitely a breakthrough for the company. We are very pleased to honour this company as part of our annual IoT Breakthrough Award Program.”
James Johnson, Managing Director of IoT Breakthrough Awards

Review 2019

For the whole Nuki team, it was a particularly exciting year. In autumn 2019 the official consumer launch of the Nuki Opener took place. With this smart door opener for existing intercom systems, we were able to fulfil a frequent Nuki customer request. Now also people living in apartment buildings can automatically open their front door. At the same time, we have come one step closer to our self-imposed goal of making the traditional key obsolete. At IFA 2019, Nuki published the forecast to break the mark of 100,000 installed smart locks by the end of the year. This goal has been achieved and even exceeded.

Outlook 2020

We are proud and pleased to receive the IoT Breakthrough Award 2020 in recognition of our team’s achievements so far. In the last years, we have been able to record steady company growth, which shows that the direction is right. Nevertheless, we still have a lot of work to do. In 2020 we plan to enter the new building market with our “Works with Nuki” program. At the same time, our existing retrofit portfolio will be systematically expanded and improved. The “Works with Nuki” program offers third-party vendors the opportunity to make their electronic front doors smart and to integrate Nuki’s technology silently and invisibly into entrance doors in the new construction segment.
